  7.         First, how about thanking all the shareware authors everywhere?
  8.         Without them, the computing world would be sorely lacking.  This
  9.         CD-ROM was accomplished largely in part to quality shareware
  10.         programs.  And the bearing that shareware has had on BBS'ing is
  11.         immeasurable.
  12.  
  13.         I would like to thank Pinnacle Software for their GO utilities on
  14.         CD-ROM's.  Their material makes this disc much more user-friendly
  15.         in regard to reading the text files.  I want to encourage everyone
  16.         to register any shareware that they may find useful.
  17.  
  18.         I would also like to thank the many shareware authors who wrote
  19.         the myriad fine image viewers and editors out there.  Again, with-
  20.         out them, this disc would be much less.

  22.         I must also thank Ero Tek, as well as Arsenal Computer, for their
  23.         invaluable help in the production of this product - Ero Tek for
  24.         their support of a cub-scanner and Arsenal Computer for arranging
  25.         the technical aspects and file listings that accompany the disc.
  26.         Without the support of both of them, this CD-ROM never would have
  27.         reached fruition.

  29.         And finally, I must thank all those people in my life that had to
  30.         put up with countless hours devoted to the production of these
  31.         images.  I would bet that many have them may have forgotten what
  32.         I look like from the front!

  34.         Targa is an exciting image format that we feel is superior to the
  35.         benchmark GIF's.  And although the resolution of these images may
  36.         not be as high as many GIF images, the vastly larger color variety
  37.         more than makes up for it.  Go figure... 256 colors just doesn't
  38.         quite match up to images that average well over 100,000 colors!
  39.         The targa format is not for everyone, but for those that want to
  40.         take advantage of their powerful video adaptors, then this is the
  41.         format for them.  To put it in perspective, compare a high quality
  42.         GIF to a television.  Which one looks better?  The tv, of course!
  43.         The reason is because the tv uses many more colors... at 512x768
  44.         resolution!  That's only half the pixels of a high quality GIF!

  46.         If you have a favorite image viewer that supports the targa format,
  47.         then we recommend using it.  If, however, you do not have any sort
  48.         of viewer installed, then we suggest you browse through the utility
  49.         section on this disc and find the one that best suits your needs.

  51.         And with that, I say go forth and view what we feel are some of the
  52.         best images ever to be put onto CD-ROM!
